As a fund holder at the Muskoka Community Foundation, your charitable gifts are managed with expertise and care, ensuring every contribution creates a meaningful impact exactly where it is needed most.

Grant planning

Each spring, fund advisors receive an annual fund statement that includes updates on the fund’s investment performance and the amount available for grants in the fiscal year. Grant recommendations can be submitted to the Foundation until early December. Additionally, contributions can be added to Donor Advised Funds at any time, allowing you to continuously support the causes you care about most.

To comply with Canadian Revenue Agency regulations, grants can only be made to qualified donees. We handle the verification process to ensure compliance.

Community well-being

With our deep understanding of community needs, challenges, and strengths, our Foundation supports fund advisors with making informed decisions about granting. This community-driven approach allows us to guide donors and fund advisors to achieve their philanthropic goals.

Monitoring community vitality

Through initiatives like Muskoka Vital Signs, we research and assess key areas that impact our quality of life in our Muskoka communities.

Building local partnerships

We maintain close connections with a wide network of local charities and community groups to stay informed about their evolving needs.

Engaging communities for impact

Ongoing conversations with residents and stakeholders help us prioritize local needs and identify where donors can make the greatest impact.

Commitment to reconciliation

As a Community Foundation operating on the traditional lands of the Ojibway, the Chippewa, the Algonquin and the Odawa, and home to three sovereign nations – Wahta Mohawks First Nations, Moose Deer Point First Nation and the Moon River Métis – we cannot walk in a good way if we do not honour all our relations in our communities, and actively work to address the impacts of colonialism on Indigenous peoples on these lands, both past and present.
