On Friday, May 10th the Muskoka Community Foundation will bring together local businesses and community leaders, charities and non-profit organizations, philanthropists and volunteers to celebrate philanthropy in Muskoka and to recognize the collective effort in building a smart and caring community. John Klinck, Chair of the District Municipality of Muskoka, will give the opening remarks at the 6th Annual Smart & Caring Muskoka Celebration at the Mark O’Meara Clubhouse, Grandview from 11:30 to 2pm.
Muskoka Community Foundation is pleased to have Sharon Avery, President and CEO of the Toronoto Foundation, deliver this year’s keynote address. Ms. Avery is a dynamic public speaker with over 19 years of experience in the philintrhopic and not-for-profit sector. The Toronto Foundation is one of Canada’s leading community foundations and was instrumental in developing and sharing the Vital Signs Report concept. This is especially significant as the Muskoka Community Foundation launched its first Muskkoka Vital Signs Report in the fall of 2018.
As in previous years, the spotlight will shine on Muskoka’s young people and the impact they have on our community. Grants from Dara’s Fund, created by two time Olympian Dara Howell, will be awarded at this year’s celebration. In addition, for the fifth year in a row the Foundation will also recognize Muskoka’s young philanthropists who are making a positive impact in Muskoka and are role models for their peers and community.
