The Lowden Family Fund is a Donor-Advised Fund, created by Steve and Linda Lowden to support Muskoka’s registered charities. Steve Lowden is a 3rd generation Muskokan and a founding member of the Toronto Foundation; Linda was a founding director of the Muskoka Community Foundation. The Lowdens wanted to create a Fund to build a legacy that their children and grandchildren can be an active part of for generations to come.

Cowan Family Fund

The Cowan Family Fund is a Donor-Advised Fund, created by John and Maggie Cowan to support registered charities primarily in Muskoka. The Cowans, who have cottaged in Muskoka for five generations, wanted to create a legacy to preserve the Muskoka they love and cherish.

Flow Through Gift helps Students at St. Dominic’s Secondary School enjoy a great learning experience with at visit to Peru by the members of the graduating class in March 2009. The Muskoka Community Foundation was pleased to work with a Muskoka donor who wished to provide funds anonymously to ensure that every member of the grade 12 class could afford the valuable learning experience of a class trip to Peru to visit with children and learn more about the environment.

Commitment to reconciliation

As a Community Foundation operating on the traditional lands of the Ojibway, the Chippewa, the Algonquin and the Odawa, and home to three sovereign nations – Wahta Mohawks First Nations, Moose Deer Point First Nation and the Moon River Métis – we cannot walk in a good way if we do not honour all our relations in our communities, and actively work to address the impacts of colonialism on Indigenous peoples on these lands, both past and present.
