Start a ripple of change in our
Muskoka communities

When you create a fund through the Muskoka Community Foundation, you are not simply making a financial gift–you’re building a more vibrant Muskoka where people thrive. Your investment will be a lifeline for local charities and organizations, ensuring they can provide programs and services to improve the well-being of our communities.

Our Foundation has strong partnerships with local charities and community groups, which gives us a deep understanding about community needs. With this knowledge, we can connect you and the causes you care about to charities that are doing this work. Together, we will ensure your fund is making the biggest impact it can through flexible giving options.

Types of funds

Your gift is an investment in communities throughout Muskoka, and can address a broad range of present and future needs. The flexibility of our funds give you an option to have as much or as little involvement as you wish.

Donor advised funds

You have ongoing involvement with your gift. Working with our professional grant-making staff, you can identify ways to use available earned income from your fund to address the issues and needs you care about most. This is our most common type of fund.

Donor designated funds

You can direct your gift to a specific charity(ies). Our staff manages the distribution of funds, ensuring that the charities that mean the most to you are supported through annual grants.

Field of interest funds

You can target your gift to address needs in an area of community life that’s important to you. When making a gift, you identify an area of personal interest and we will award grants to charitable organizations that are making a difference in the area you select.

Agency fund

You can provide a sustainable source of revenue to a charity by building up resources that can be granted to the organization every year.

Education funds

You can create scholarships or bursaries to support students in their education. You set the criteria, choose the institution, and even focus on a specific field of study. The funds are managed by a qualified organization, usually the school itself, ensuring your support goes directly to those in need.

Flow-through funds

You can address immediate needs through a flow-through fund. These funds allow donors to gift a non-endowed contribution from which donors may advise on annual granting for more immediate needs.

Commitment to reconciliation

As a Community Foundation operating on the traditional lands of the Ojibway, the Chippewa, the Algonquin and the Odawa, and home to three sovereign nations – Wahta Mohawks First Nations, Moose Deer Point First Nation and the Moon River Métis – we cannot walk in a good way if we do not honour all our relations in our communities, and actively work to address the impacts of colonialism on Indigenous peoples on these lands, both past and present.
